A Safe & Effective Way to Help Break Bad Habits

Not just for quitting smoking, laser therapy can help people quit behaviors such as excessive gambling, nail-biting, technology overuse like video gaming/social media scrolling, overspending, and more.

Breaking free from these habits can be extremely challenging — fortunately, Ottawa Laser Therapy Solutions can help.

What Is Laser Therapy To Quit Bad Habits?

Laser therapy is a safe and effective approach to help you address challenging habits by supporting the brain’s natural ability to rewire and adapt in the transition to healthier behaviors.

Lazer Dave applies gentle laser light using sophisticated European low-level laser therapy technology to energy points on the face, ears, hands, and feet. Similar when Lazer Dave uses laser to help people quit smoking, this process is designed to naturally boost endorphins, promote brain neuroplasticity, and encourage a shift away from bad habits like excessive gambling, nail biting, excessive technology overuse and more. The end goal to help provide the extra momentum needed for positive and long-term change.

The approach Dave uses is inspired  and is a combination of medical acupuncture methodology, auricular therapy, and the latest groundbreaking laser light therapy scientific research. The technique requires no needles, is entirely non-invasive, and utilizes only gentle low-level laser light.

Laser therapy is also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), cold laser therapy, laser acupuncture, and photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT).

About Quitting Bad Habits

Breaking free from ingrained addictive habits can be a significant challenge due to the way these behaviors are reinforced by almost “hard wired” like patterns in the brain’s reward system. These behaviours are often deeply intertwined with routines, emotional triggers, and environmental factors, making them extremely difficult to overcome through willpower alone.

Over the years, various methods such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), support groups, professional counseling, digital interventions like apps, hypnotherapy, and more have been developed to address negative behaviours. The success rates of these methods vary widely, and in Dave’s clinical experience — many individuals benefit from the addition of laser therapy to promote a powerful physiological edge.

Key scientific studies and clinical results have established support for the application of laser for smoking cessation purposes and even quitting gambling. Neurological firing for many addictions share similar anatomical patterns in the brain’s reward system. In addition, emerging research on low-level laser therapy (LLLT) suggests efficacy to support enhanced cognitive function, mental clarity, and other brain health concerns such as:

  • Neurological conditions like dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease.
  • Anxiety, stress management, sleep improvement, and mood regulation.
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Disclaimer: please note that laser therapy is NOT a replacement for the advice or guidance of a doctor, addictions counselor, or other healthcare professional. The intention of laser therapy is to serve as a complementary modality on any journey towards making healthy habit lifestyle changes. Always consult with a doctor for any physical/mental health concern and changes with medications.

How Does Laser Therapy Help Me Stop Bad Habits?

Low-intensity laser is applied to specific energy points (acupuncture points) on the ears, head, hands, and feet to stimulate and stabilize the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins—the body’s natural feel-good chemicals.

In addition, emerging scientific evidence supports that low-intensity laser light therapy positively affects the brain’s neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to adapt to all the changes it goes through over the course of a person’s life and is characterized by the variation in the number or nature of the neurons and synapses. This means laser therapy can provide a cognitive boost to help people quit negative habits like overspending, gambling, nail biting, technology overuse and incorporate more positive behaviors into their lifestyles.

The benefits of increased neurotransmitter release and neuroplasticity enhancement combined can dramatically help to break a negative behaviour cycle — with the end goal of making it less challenging to quit a bad habit for good.

About Breaking Bad Habits

Bad habits are often reinforced by repetition and tied to emotional or environmental triggers — promoting deeply ingrained firing patterns in the brain. Over time, attempts to change these behaviors using sheer willpower or conventional methods like habit-tracking apps and self-help techniques often result in mixed success.

Most approaches focus on suppressing bad habits without directly treating/stimulating the actual underlying neurological anatomical pathways that sustain them. Many pharmaceutical options involve tangible side-effects. In this regard, laser therapy provides a unique, and non-invasive way to support your brain’s natural capacity for change usually with little to no negative side-effects. Laser offers a potentially powerful edge in breaking free from unproductive routines.

Dave’s Approach To Helping You Quit Bad Habits Using Laser Therapy

Most important is your desire to quit. Subsequently, Dave subscribes to a 2 step approach in helping people overcome negative behaviours using laser therapy:

STEP ONE — COMMIT + PREPARE

Quitting smoking begins with a strong commitment to change. After you make your first appointment and complete the deposit, reception will email you the Laser Quit Therapy Prep Guide.

The Prep Guide outlines Key Habit Change suggestions, supplements, and other information that, when combined with laser quit therapy, can dramatically increase the chances of quitting a bad habit for good.

STEP TWO — LASER THERAPY TREATMENT

Use laser therapy to treat various energy points on the ears, face, hands, and feet to help break ingrained behaviours related to a negative habit.

What Happens Before My First Laser Therapy Treatment To Quit A Bad Habit?

You will be asked to complete an online health history form, make a deposit, and subsequently be emailed the Laser Quit Therapy Prep Guide. The Prep Guide contains essential information and Key Habit Change suggestions that will maximize your chances of successfully quitting a bad habit for good. You should follow any recommendations that seem reasonable and/or resonate with you to maximize results.

Please note: the Laser Quit Therapy Prep Guide is NOT a replacement for the advice or recommendations of a doctor, professional counseling, group support, or mental health support services.

What To Expect On Your First Laser Therapy Treatment To Quit A Bad Habit

When you come for your first laser to quit a bad habit, you will get comfortable by lying down on a comfortable treatment table while listening to relaxing music or nothing but silence. This is a perfect time for you to start being more present and grounded in the moment, a skill under practised by most.

Dave will explain the procedure and ask you to wear protective eyewear. He will then use various laser devices to treat “energy” points on the face, ears, neck, arms, wrist, hands, lower legs, and feet.

You may feel a slight warm and/or pleasent “heaviness” through your body. As more key points are stimulated by laser light, your body should begin to release endorphins and other powerful neurochemicals that promote the body’s natural “rest and digest” state. Many report at the end of treatments a pleasant sense of relaxation, less concerning “withdrawal” like symptoms and a general sense of well-being/groundedness.

What to Expect After Your First Laser Therapy Treatment To Quit A Bad Habit

After your first Ottawa laser therapy treatment for quitting a negative habit, you will likely feel more relaxed and calm. In addition to treating you with laser, Dave will review behavioral replacement practices.

While many find positive results with 1-2 treatments, some require additional “booster” treatments for longer-term success. This is especially not uncommon for very challenging/complex concerns.

Dave always recommends that clients complete the two treatments in the program fee before judging individual responses and results.

Is There Scientific Research For Laser Therapy To Quit Bad Habits?

Despite what many doctors or skeptics might say about laser therapy, there is scientific evidence that supports the efficacy of stimulating energy points (acupuncture points) to quit a bad habit such as gambling.

Conclusion: Acupuncture produces positive results in patients with gambling disorders. It helps regulate the reward system; stimulates release of neurotransmitters in the brain; produces neuroprotective effects; and activates certain brain areas to suppress impulsivity and craving and to balance emotions. Acupuncture is thought to be related to increased blood flow in the frontal lobe, thereby increasing nerve metabolism, as well as regulating dopamine in the basal ganglia.
